A Bit About Me

I have dedicated nearly 15 years as an English teacher for middle and high school students in South Korea. This journey led me to encounter Mr. Kim Seong-eun, the pioneer of a novel English learning method and the founder of Eastern English. Inspired, I launched Eastern Bridge Language School in Gyeongnam Geochang in March 2001. Upholding the motto, "Beyond Korea, be a Creative Global Leader Embracing the World!", our institution thrived due to its innovative teaching methods, outstanding curriculum, passionate instruction, and diverse extracurricular activities.

Our goal was not just to produce students who excelled in reading and academic scores but holistic English speakers proficient in listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Our alumni have advanced to renowned high schools and universities in Korea and globally. My commitment also extended personally, successfully guiding my three children through educational programs in the U.S.

I have advocated for affordable, high-quality education in the U.S., guiding prospective students to institutions that offer just that. While many perceive studying in the U.S. as costly and challenging, opting for international schools in Southeast Asia or countries like Australia and New Zealand, I firmly believe that pursuing education in the U.S. is the paramount choice. Hence, leveraging my experience, I have collaborated with select Christian and Catholic schools in the U.S., aiming to be a reliable guide for those dreaming of becoming global leaders. I also provide university admission guidance.

Recognizing my contributions and expertise in English education, I was granted U.S. permanent residency through the high-skilled specialty occupation visa (NIW) in English education and overseas studies on January 7, 2021. I'm committed to being a bridge, helping countless dreamers unfold their vast aspirations on American soil.

A Bit About Me

Ever since I was little, I often wondered, "Why am I doing what I do?" Even though I knew I was part of this big world, it was hard to see how my daily actions mattered. I wanted to explore and see new places, but living in my small hometown, I felt stuck. Life was good though. I was doing well in school, had great friends, and my family was always there for me.

Then, one day, my father asked me a critical question: "Do you want to study in another country or stay in Korea?" I was very young and didn’t know what was best for my future. But that question made me think a lot about what I genuinely wanted.

I began to yearn for an overseas education to enhance my English proficiency and immerse myself in diverse cultures. But it was a scary idea to do so. Studying in another country without your family is a big step. After months of contemplation and factoring in the differing academic calendars between Korea and the States which schools in the U.S. start in the fall, but in Korea, they start in the spring; it was time to make a decision.

When I decided on the exchange program, a one-year study abroad opportunity which was the most affordable option available back then, everything happened so quickly. Almost immediately, I was randomly paired with a host family and assigned to a local high school in Oregon, U.S. I only had three days to pack up and say farewells to my family and friends. Then, with a mixed feeling of excitement and anxiousness, I embarked on what would become a life-defining adventure. After my initial year in the exchange program, I chose to remain in the States to finish high school and applied to U.S. universities, where I continued my education.

In my time abroad of more than 10 years, I've crossed paths with diverse individuals, each with their own unique journey—some who came for higher studies, others for internships, and many through different exchange programs. These interactions enriched my perspective, teaching me the existence of various and perhaps more manageable ways to explore the world. Yet, as I reflect on my own trajectory, it's crystal clear: the choice I made at the early phase of my life was the cornerstone that shaped my true identity.

A Bit About Me

As a visionary educational entrepreneur, I have established and successfully operated six Hot Schools language institutes, strategically located in prime areas of South Korea such as Daechi, Banpo, Apgujeong, Gwacheon, Pyeongchon, and Yongin. My institutes are renowned for their advanced English language education, focusing on a balance of innovation and practical learning. These institutes are a testament to my commitment to delivering high-quality language education and fostering an environment where language proficiency and cultural understanding go hand in hand.

At the core of my educational philosophy lies the development of the Standard Program, a unique and proprietary English learning system. I am also the author of specialized teaching materials published and widely adopted across our curriculum. This approach reflects my dedication to crafting an engaging and effective learning experience. My curriculum caters to various educational levels: from elementary students engaging in American textbook studies and Newbery Series storybook analysis to intensive TOEFL and SAT preparation courses for high school students. Each level is meticulously designed to build on the student's current knowledge and propel them toward academic excellence.

In addition to educational program development, I have pioneered a customized and professional U.S. study abroad consulting service. This service stands out from typical study abroad agencies by providing expert, tailored guidance and support. This is especially valuable for students aspiring to study in the U.S., ensuring they are well-prepared and informed. My background includes an incomplete tenure at Dongguk University’s College of Medicine, followed by a successful shift in focus resulting in a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the State University of New York. This unique educational journey has contributed to my holistic approach to education and student development.
